Bowdon St. Mary's beat Pendle 4-2 at home in the Noth-West Federation Handicap League. Two wins in the morning doubles gave the home side a 2-0 lead at lunch with the afternoon singles being shared.

But no such luck for Bowdon Firs who went down to a crushing 5 - 1 defeat at Bury Peelers.

Meanwhile, the Short team confirmed their championship form with a convincing 10-6 home win against Westmorland in the NW Federation Short League. There were 4 wins for Janet Guthrie, 3 for Ros Pimlott, 2 for Steve Reynolds (in his debut match) and 1 for Nan Bowers.
