PRACTISE BEFORE A MATCH
The following note from Hon. Croquet Secretary Ian
Lines gives some guidance to the unwritten 'rules' of practise before a
club competition
match.
"There is no reason why anybody shouldn't practise (or
play another internal or friendly game) before playing an internal club
match at Bowdon. Ideally, this should be on a different lawn to the one
you are about to play on, but this may not always be possible. If one
person has come down and practised prior to the agreed start time, or
has played a previous game that day, then the other player should be
informed and should be given the opportunity for up to 10 minutes solo
practice on the lawn you
are about to play on. This is consistent with the approach adopted in
most
CA tournaments where one player has had a late start."
