TRIPLE
PEEL FOR ANDREW WINN!!
Andrew Winn hit terrific form over the weekend of June 16-17 in the
Edgbaston 'B'
tournament. Not only did he win the event, the Sally Nicholls
Troply, for the
second year running but he did it in style by completing his first ever
competitive triple peel in the first leg of the final.
The final was best of three and Andrew won the first +26tp, 7th turn,
with a delayed triple (hoop 6, 4-back and rover), having failed two
triple attempts earlier in the tournament. Second game was +13. The
lawns were slow and easy, having been under 4 inches of water on the
Friday evening, which Andrew thought had helped his peeling attempts
considerably. Amazingly, Andrew also did a
triple in a friendly match played earlier in the day.
Runner-up was James Field of Bath.
Lorna Frost and John Wilkinson also competed at the event.
CONGRATULATIONS ANDREW!!
