BRITISH OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS, 2-9 JULY - BOWDON WINNER!!
Four Bowdon members played in the Open Championships at Cheltenham this week.
In the opening block singles games on the first 3 days I an Lines, David Maugham & Keith Aiton were among the 24 who qualified from their blocks for the knock-out stage; however Steve Lewis did not make it and entered the Plate. Only David managed to progress as far as the semi-final stage where he met the eventual winner Robert Fulford.
Steve beat Jerry Guest to win the Plate Process event and then went into the Plate play-off only to lose to Chris Patmore. Keith (with Jonathan Kirby) lost in the final of the Doubles competition against Robert Fulford/Chris Clarke.
The final of the main event was won by Robert Fulford who beat Reg Bamford 3-2.
