THE BLUEBERRY CHALLENGE Just to let you know that there is other croquet going on besides the Test Matches. Bowdon members have the opportunity to play on the Blueberry Croquet Club lawns, courtesy of John Larmouth, for the Blueberry Handicap Doubles Challenge Cup. A Bowdon team of Janice & Frank Moir challenged the Blueberry team of John Larmouth & John Lucas on November 19 but lost 14-5 on the very heavy Blueberry winter lawns. The cup can be competed for by challenge from Bowdon (with the same or a different team) at any time up to the opening of the Bowdon winter lawn, when the Blueberry lawns will be closed to allow for grass recovery. Please contact the Blueberry CC Secretary on 0161 928 1605 to arrange a future challenge match; any doubles team is always welcome. The Blueberry CC probably won only because they had practiced on the lawns over the preceding week! The Blueberry Challenge Cup was presented to the winning team (right) by the President of the Blueberry Croquet Club |
