Ian, partnered by Jenny Williams in the doubles, won Block C undefeated and then went on to play in the Knockout Round, narrowly losing to the favourites Chris Clarke & Robert Fulford in the final.
There are five blocks of 8 players, the top 6 of each plus 2 lucky losers will go into the X-Y-Z playoff singles competition, the top 6 of each plus 2 lucky losers will go into the X-Y-Z playoff. The second day of play saw Ian qualify from Block D as overall leader by only losing one game, thus ensuring a good draw in the first round of the knockout phase; he had one scare, however, when he only just beat the world no.507 by plus one on time! After that, h e played very well to get through to the semi-final where he came up against Chris Clarke but lost in 4 games.
Jenny Williams played Peter Landrebe in the other semi-final after her magnicent win against Robert Fulford but was also defeated.
Ian played Jenny in the 3rd/4th place play-off and was victorious, clinching the match in the best-of-3 games .
In the final, Chris Clarke beat Peter Landrebe +26tp +25tp +6
