Pleasant late-season conditions meant that the 28 players again got in quite a few games during this year's ARK Advanced Handicap, which was run as an Egyptian. Threatened rain held off until dusk on Saturday, by which time only one game was still on court. The tournament was won by Gina Lewis after a close final game with Richard Griffiths.
Richard says "I found myself mainly giving bisques, except for one game in which I received a half-bisque. Overall, I considered I was doing well to get to contest the deciding game for the trophy, against Gina Lewis. I was giving two and a half bisques to this year’s Steel Bowl winner, and expected a tough game. It was an exciting finish, with me getting a miraculous hit in from B-baulk to corner 4 on a lift shot, with my partner ball pegged out by Gina. And then a miraculous roll to rover from the east boundary gave me rover. With Gina at peg and peg I needed the roquet after rover to enable me to peg out, but it was not to be. I missed a 10-yarder, and Gina won +1."
