Bowdon St. Mary's (pictured below) suffered their first defeat of
the season when a high-bisquing Chester side beat them 4-2 on Sunday
25th July 2004.
After the morning doubles it was one game all, Rupert Webb and Janice Moir
coming from behind to win +1 on time. Andrew Winn and Liz Webb got off to a
good start with Andrew managing 11 hoops and a peel early on, but couldn't
stop their opponents gradually overtaking and pegging out as the timer
sounded.
A hearty lunch lifted morale, but as the soft rain swirled, things went
rapidly downhill for St Mary's after lunch. Andrew Winn lost -26 in the 6th
turn in 40 minutes, and Janice lost -23. Rupert again played well to win by
9 but unfortunately Liz lost -2 on time.
