IAN LINES WINS SOUTHPORT'S SEPTEMBER OPEN TOURNAMENT

Ian Lines, fresh from winning the Chairman's Salver and now a -2 (and no.18 in the world), continued his recent run of form by not dropping a game in the Southport September Advanced Weekend (The Sandiforth Salver).

Play was delayed on Saturday morning by heavy rain and puddles, but by 11am the sun came out and the lawns dried rapidly in the fresh Southport breeze.Ian started well, with an stp against Barbara Haslam, followed by a 7th turn lsxp against Colin Southern (Ian's first sxp in a CA tournament, so gaining a Platinum award), and a standard tp against David Barrett.  In the final against John Haslam, there were a few more changes of innings but Ian won +14, +16.

The consolation Swiss was won by David Barrett with 4/6. Bowdon players  Swiss results as follows: Alan Pidcock 2/3, Ailsa Lines 2/3, Peter Taylor 1/3, Mike Sandler 2/5
