CLUBHOUSE IMPROVEMENTS

Work on levelling the paving in front of the clubhouse started 2 weeks ago and should be completed by the end of this week, depending on the weather. The sloping paving slabs were a health and safety risk and they have been removed, so now a level area is in place with a step down to the lawns. The path from the gate has been extended to meet this area which will allow wheelchair access right into the clubhouse and a retaining wall built because of the bigger drop.

2018 TEA ROTA
Sylvia Steer has very kindly organised this year's Tea Rota which will appear in the clubhouse this coming week. Please take a look at it here online or in paper format at the club and note that the onus is on the person or pair who cannot make the date, to change that date with another pair or person on the rota. Then will members amend their date by writing on the notice accordingly. It would be much appreciated if members, who find they are not on the club Tea Rota this year, would kindly try to make themselves available to help with refreshments on the tournament weekends, which are shown on the Tea Rota.
Thanks to everyone.

INTERNAL CLUB COMPETITIONS
The entry form for this year's club competitions can be found attached and it may be printed off and returned to Steve Reynolds by 9th March. Paper copies can be found in the club house and entries can be placed in a folder on the bar.

BRIDGE & CANASTA AT THE CLUB
To take the place of croquet over the winter months, why not come down and play Bridge and/or Canasta?
Even if you've never played before, there will be people there who can teach you.

On Monday evenings, Bridge will be played every week, unless there is a committee meeting in the clubhouse, which is held on the second Monday of each month (except in November).
Come down to the club in readiness for play to begin at 7pm.

Canasta sessions will be held twice a week:
     - on Tuesdays, please bring your own lunch to the club at around 12.30pm; play will begin soon after and will go on until approx. 4pm.
 - on Wednesdays, play will start straight after the weekly 1-Ball comp.
YOUTH CLUB

The YOUTH CLUB (all ages welcome) has recommenced for the winter, in the Clubhouse.
Please pop down EVERY FRIDAY from 8pm onwards for a drink and a chat or to play pool, cards or whatever.
ALL PLAYING AND SOCIAL MEMBERS ARE WELCOME, hope to see you there.

Welcome to Bowdon Croquet Club 2018...

...where croquet is played on most days of the year.

We are a thriving active club and welcome new members (see New Members section for an application form or just come and visit).

The club has room for four superb full size lawns maintained to a high standard providing first class playing facilities to all members.

A six-week beginners' coaching course is held every summer from May into June, at a cost of around 35.
Bowdon members who joined during the last year can also attend, if they so desire, free of charge.
To book, or for more details, please contact Charles on 0161 980 6419. Coaching is also available free on a one-to-one basis at all times.

The 2018 croquet season runs from late March until October when three full size lawns and three short lawns are laid out.
Limited play is permitted during the winter months.

Bowdon hosts several Croquet Association tournaments and internationals each year.
In 2018 these are:

The May Handicap Weekend
The June Advanced Weekend
The Home Internationals
The Northern Week (July)
The North of England Championship (August)
The September 'B' Level Weekend

Spectators are welcome at all these events.
