THE PRESIDENT'S MUG COMPETITION
The President's Mug Competition aims to give Improving players opportunities to play handicap games against  stronger, low-handicap members, when the first rush of play in Club Competitions is ended. There is no entry fee, just read the Rules and take a card if it appeals to you to have some challenging competitive play and receive tactical tips on your game from more experienced members. The aim is to encourage handicap play between players of widely differing abilities, and to advance the general level of social play within the Club, building on and extending the successful ideas behind the Wednesday Competition throughout the whole week. Details of the Rules, etc. are now posted in the club and a link can be found by clicking here for a preview and here for a list of the stronger players.

Welcome to the Bowdon Croquet Club 2010....

......where croquet is played on most days of the year.

We are a thriving active club and welcome new members (see New Members section for an application form or just come and visit).

The club has room for four superb full size lawns maintained to a high standard providing first class playing facilities to all members.

A six-week beginners' coaching course is to be held this summer from May until June, at a cost of £35.
Bowdon members who joined during the last year can also attend, if they so desire, free of charge .
To book, or for more details, please contact Iman on 0751 123893. Coaching is also available free on a one-to-one basis at all times.

The 2010 croquet season runs from March until October when three full size lawns and two short lawns are laid out.

Bowdon hosts several Croquet Association tournaments each year.

In 2010 these are:

The May Handicap Weekend
(1-3 May)
The June Advanced Weekend
(5-6 June)
The Northern Week
(17-22 July)
MacRobertson Shield Test Match: GB v. USA
(5-10 August)
The North of England Championship
(27-30 August)
The Bowdon 'B' level Tournament
(25-26 September)

Spectators are welcome at all these events.

The club was founded in 1873 and has been located on the present site since 1911.
The club is affiliated to the Croquet Association and the North-West of England Federation.
