NW FESTIVAL OF CROQUET, 27th-28th JUNE
Bowdon were unlucky to finish second to Bury after ending the tournament, held at Southport at the weekend, on equal points; Bury won by virtue of winning more Championship Events (Short) than Bowdon.

We also came second in 2 of the 4 events, Golf and Handicap, only coming 2nd in the Golf to CHESTER, because we lost the head to head.

In the Handicap we won 5 of the 7 matches, and were the only team to beat the winners FYLDE.

So overall was a good weekend for Bowdon, but no trophies

Let's see more of you volunteer to play next year.

See the NW Feb website for more details.

CATERING OVER NORTHERN WEEK

Most of the catering has now been sorted out but we still desperately need help on 13th July. If any one could provide a cake, dessert on the day or, even better, a pair of hands to help with serving the food, please could volunteers liaise with Carole Kelsall.
Thank you

Congratulations go to Will Mellor on winning week 12 of the Wednesday Competition with a new season high score of 99 points, especially as it was his 16th Birthday on the day.
Not only were there Mars Bars to be shared out but Will also provided cream cakes for all the competitors... so the club kindly thanked him by reducing his handicap to 20!!
SWINGING SUNDAY

Diana Jerman won the first of this year's Swinging Sunday competitions on Sunday, 28th June

Are you a new player, who joined this year or last?

If you have recently joined us and are wondering how to progress, then Swinging Sundays are for you!
We play 2 games of short croquet, usually twice a month depending on lawn availability.
The aim is to give you experience of playing proper games,  to meet fellow players and to learn the etiquette of croquet in a relaxed setting.
We follow the rules of short croquet and there is a winner each week.  We can cater for 2 - 10 players, with no standard expected.

There is no need to book - just turn up just before 10.15am on 5th July, 19th July, 9th August, 23rd August & 6th September.

We usually finish just before 1 pm so that those who have a traditional Sunday lunch can get home in time!

If you want to know more, please ring Nan Bowers on 928 3622
